I am excited and nervous at the same time about starting.
Getting to this point hasn’t been an easy thing for me.
It’s been years since I first intended to explore doing something like this and I have to say that it’s been an interesting journey and learning process.
I’m launching out in spite of my hesitations and fears.
I’m doing something different and new, following the words of Pablo Picasso – “I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”
I don’t claim to be perfect or know it all.
I do aim to help and hope to inspire all while continuing to learn myself.
The idea for this blog started about 5 years ago, not long after I was introduced to the world of blogging (and podcasting) and fell in love with the impact they had.
I began to read, listen to, and study anything and everything I could find that would teach me and also those things that would encourage me.
The name of the blog hit me about a year ago while I was reading the book The Art of Work, by Jeff Goins.
So, after much wrestling and wading through stormy waters in my life the past 18 months, here I am, ready to launch out into the unknown.
I wanted to start out by introducing what I’ll be writing about.
My primary focus is to talk about making up our minds to get past the place we’ve self-imposed that’s impossible or the mindset we’ve self-induced that is laced with fear or complacency.
As the name of the site states, No More What If, is the battle cry you’ll find here.
For years I’ve dreamed of what it would be like to not say that anymore in my life.
“What if I went back to school?”
“What if I read a book a month this year?”
“What if I started my own business?”
“What if I found a better job?”
“What if I learned how to build a website?”
“What if I actually had a few dollars in my savings?”
“What if I spent more time with my family?”
“What if I had more time to do what I wanted?”
“What if I had financial freedom?”
“What if I exercised more?”
Every single one of these questions (and more) I’ve asked myself. All of them starting with the notion that it was merely an unattainable object for me – “What IF?”
Why did I do that?
Why do any of us do it?
Truly there are many reasons and we can all submit our list of excuses that we’ve used to not proceed after we ask the questions.
Perhaps it’s a lack of resources, knowledge, finances, motivation, encouragement, or something else entirely.
Maybe you’re afraid like I was am.
We’re afraid of a lot of things. Whether it’s fear of starting or of being vulnerable, failing, rejection, or even success.
I think Jon Acuff summed it up perfectly in his book Start. In it, he quotes John Maxwell who once said to “Begin with the end in mind”.
He follows that up with this truth bomb, “Somehow we interpret that to mean we have to begin with the end in stone.”
Jon, you hit the nail on the head!
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing for years! I take the journey of a lifetime in my mind all in the span of 5 minutes mapping out exactly why I can’t and shouldn’t start something or fulfill my purpose or calling in life.
Well, not today.
Today I’m brushing off the stigma that I’ve self-imposed for so long that convinced me every question will remain a “what if” one.
I’m inviting you now to do the same. Let’s journey together and see if we can all put these things behind us.
If you’ll come with me, I’d love to have you along for the ride! Let’s leave the ‘what if…’ behind!

Great job on your launch! Keep up the encouraging word!
Thank you!
