Do you have dreams?
Depending on where we are in life, we can sometimes forget about them altogether. We don’t prioritize them, we don’t think about them enough, we make some plans to get to them, then we get distracted and they stay in the abstract.
Our dreams can range from the simplest of things to the scariest of ventures.
Have you ever found yourself questioning why you’re here? Not reading this post, but alive. Why you were even born.
At some point, I think we’ve all pondered that mystery and probably like I’ve done, just gotten stuck.
I believe we’re all blessed with particular talents, character traits, interests, and excel in certain areas in life.
Yet, maybe because we weren’t conditioned to follow fulfillment and our calling, we settled for something we had just an interest in.
That could have brought us to a decision about college, or straight to the workplace to begin “our lives”.
When we’re dissatisfied and not following our purpose, our discontentment grows. It festers. It eats at us. It’s almost like a disease.
We start letting our gratitude for what we’ve been blessed with slip.
We try to talk through it with someone, maybe our spouse or best friend, but it’s hard to translate this into words and have them catch how deeply this affects us.
The only way I know to break out of this is to administer an anecdote just as we do to our physical bodies when they get sick.
The mantra in sports is that “Winning Cures All”.
The cure for this ailment? Action.
Action isn’t more television.
It isn’t more video games or time on social media.
It’s not always in grabbing all the overtime you can at work either.
You know this too because you’ve tried these to numb the feeling and block out the call, but it’s only a temporary fix.
We live in the greatest age to take action too!
What’s the dream you’re having a hard time shaking? The majority of the time, you can find easy access to action by using the go-to verb today – Google.
It doesn’t take a lifetime of study to start.

It doesn’t require a doctorate to begin.
It doesn’t mean abandoning our family and spending 100 hours a week wrapped up in another world.
Honestly, it’s not as difficult as we think.
I’m not referring to seeing our dreams finished and complete, I’m talking about simply taking action.
Doing SOMETHING.
Your spouse doesn’t want to see you depressed, mopey, and complaining. (Neither does anyone else.)
Just find one thing to do this week. Just one. Not every day, just once this week and do it.
Whether it’s watching a YouTube video on how to bake cupcakes to eventually open a bakery, searching Doityourself.com on how to build a deck and improve your carpentry skills, or signing up for a course on Udemy.com to learn how to write code to start your own website building business, just spend the 15 to 60 minutes this week taking action.
Don’t let anyone discourage you either.
You can do this.
You don’t have to scale a mountain overnight, all you have to do is take action on one thing.
Other people are taking action every day, there’s nothing extraordinary about them, they have just decided to take action.
If you’re truly ready to take action, then don’t make excuses about past failures, what you’re lacking, or any other lie you’ve allowed yourself to believe.
You have what it takes to leave the “what if” behind, even if someone has told you that you don’t.
If it is resources you need in order to get going, reach out to someone you trust. Better yet, shoot me an email and if there is something I can help with, I’ll do so!
